Welcome To London Chapter 1 Page 14

Saw Prometheus this past weekend and enjoyed the movie.  Seems to be some people pretty angry about the movie.  Granted there were a few stupid moments.  The brave biologist and the running from a boulder parts are the ones that ring out for me.

However some people are so bloody upset about them taking off their helmets because they didn’t ‘test’ the air.  The way I figure is these people built this huuuuge spaceship, traveled billions of light years (or whatever) , know how to cryo-freeze bodies for 2 years and built a bleeding android that says ‘tea, mum?’…I think they prolly have a device that can check the air for bacteria.  Plus it is a movie and they have to take off their helmets, same as Spiderman and Batman spending most of the movie maskless.

So I thought it was fun.  I think of it more as a horror/thriller movie.  When do any character’s actions make sense in the real world?

Vote below (2 easy clicks and no signup) and see the first 6 pages of the first serious attempt at a comic about Pickle and his adorable sidekick Todd.

Well I decided to brave the beast that is Kristen Stewart’s acting and watched Snow White and the Huntsman.  I thought it was a pretty decent flick.  It could have used some more visceral, in-your-face battles but all in all it was entertaining and never felt bored.  Stewart was her normal self, so don’t expect much in that department.  Hemsworth was a great fit for the role.  Can’t wait to see him unleash some destruction in Thor 2.

This weekend is Prometheus.  Can’t wait!  After that will be the long wait for Dark Knight Rises.

The First SB Comic

It’s the first day of voting over at TWC.  Every month they reset the votes and I am kind of curious how high I can get.  I think I got to around 350-ish this month.  I would really appreciate if you could send a vote my way.  It’s really simple.  Just click the button up top and two clicks, you’re done.  No sign up or anything.  Once you do that you will also get to see pages 1-4 of the first serious attempt at a comic featuring Pickle.

This was from 4 years ago and it was called ‘Pickle and Todd’ back then.  Lots of changes, including a different look for Pickle.  Pickle has gone through several fashion choices.

Here’s pages 1-2 to entice you to vote.  Thanks!

One a side note, feel free to vote once a day if you are so inclined 😉

Want to see the one of the first attempts at a Shiver Bureau comic from 4, yes 4, years ago?  Back then it was called ‘Pickle and Todd’ and things looked way different.  Click the vote button below to check it out.  I’ve got the first 2 pages up and will be posting the remaining 6 in the following weeks.  These are unlettered, though if there is some demand I will provide the words.

Anyone going to see Snow White and the Huntsman this weekend?  Usually I am pretty wary of Ms. Stewart and her school of stammer, but I’ve been in the mood for some swords, sorcery and monsters.  Since The Hobbit is 6 months away, I think I may be heading to the theaters this weekend.

Shiver Art – Birth of Pickle

These pages are some of my very first sequential pages I ever drew.  I had just recently discovered Mignola and Hellboy.  Not only that, these pages birthed Pickle.

I thought these would be fun to share.  Pickle and myself have really come a long way.  He’s been with me since the start and I am glad I get to launch Shiver Bureau with him…even if he is a little punk.

The first appearance of Pickle.  What happened to his green hair.  Who knows, but he has a green tie.

Hey look.  Page 2 and I am already redesigning characters and changing styles completely.  These pages were only a few days apart.  And there’s Pickle’s green hair.

What this?  Another style change?  Pickle is looking pretty sweet I got to say.

Hey, only a slight style change here.  Below are some cover ideas.  Did I say I had recently discovered Hellboy?

Spoiler Alert – New character introduced and her name’s Trish. About time we got some XX up in here. XX chromosomes that is.

Give us a vote and get a sneak peak at next weeks page.

Anybody watch Game of Thrones?  Joffrey needs to die a painful death, am I right?

Shiver Art – Concept Sketches

Below are some concept sketches for Pickle and also a test page trying out a really quick and rough style.  I was also playing around with the idea of a simple color technique.  I really do like that 2nd panel of the hallway.  It’s always the simple stuff that is cool.

In case you thought I couldn’t take the ghost rodeo any further.  I think Pickle got about 8 seconds.

Did you know DeviantArt lets you change your username now?  Pretty freaking sweet.  You can find me at http://ostlie.deviantart.com/

KA-BLOOOOEEEY!

Give us a vote and in return I shall give a digital splatter and halftone tutorial.

Who saw Avengers?  Pretty awesome, right?  I love the flavor that Whedon brings to his projects.

Speaking of movies, I recorded my coloring and lettering process for page 13 and 14.  So once I post those pages, I’ll toss those videos up.  Once I can figure how record my traditional process, I will start recording those.
