Actually, on second viewing, I don’t know if that’s actually part of his(?) lower body on the desk, or a smoking spectral rift/trail he left in his path.
Technically it could be both. It would be easier to read I think, in a printed 2 page spread. It loses some omph cut in half. Thanks for coming back after the hiatus!
And here I thought it was the man’s shadow because I couldn’t see the rest of the picture. Didn’t expect the specter at the desk at all.
Now that we’re on that subject, I still don’t really know what specters are, or spectrum for that matter. This comic has a lot of explaining to do. heh.

The shadow does flow into the specter, I think, if you imagine the pages side by side.
