I do believe the sun is starting to rise.  You know what that means, Pickle will burst into flames!

 

No wait, that’s wrong…I know.  I get to change the palette finally!!!

Uh oh, this kid’s got a name now.  That means it’s serious!  The equivalent in dating would be meeting the parents.

I really like that first panel.  I usually cringe when it comes to drawing people inside of cars, but I am really happy with out it came out.

Time for a little SB trivia.  First it started off with just Pickle and Todd.  When I started fleshing out the world, Trish was introduced as a backup character.  However, in the end she pushed in front of Todd for the spotlight.  There was a time, that both Todd and Trish were going to be replaced by Oliver.  Oliver and Trish were actually related for a minute once.

But I scrapped all that and we are left with this incarnation of haphazard do-gooders.

Oliver may eventually become a vehicle for some other ideas I have…

P.S.  drawing kids is tough.

So I did a little redesign on the kid.  I wasn’t happy with his original design, even as I was drawing the page I knew I would after to change it later.  I am going to go back and redraw that page as well.  I wasn’t too happy with the pacing on that section either, however one of my favorite panels is in there, so I will have to reuse that piece.

We finally get to meet this little rapscallion on the next page…hmm, I don’t think I’ve ever written the word rapscallion before.

What a smooth talker…

Anyone watching Game of Thrones?  That last episode was awesome!  I think GoT is my favorite TV series of all time, hopefully the quality holds up and they can see it through to the finish.

I’ve started reading the books.  I’m about half way through the first book.  I haven’t decided yet, if I will continue reading once I catch up to the TV show.  I think I will stop reading, so I can be more surprised during the show.

When the Harry Potter movies came out, I hadn’t read any of the books.  However, I loved the movies so much, I couldn’t wait for the next movie, so after seeing “Harry Potter: Prisoner”, I started reading the books.  Which was great, cause I could read all of them and not have to wait, but the movies could not live up to the books.  So I think I enjoyed the movies less then I would have if I hadn’t read the books.  So I will stay just behind the GoT shows.

Super happy that Game of Thrones is back on!  Arya is my favorite character and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for her.

Also started watching True Detectives.  Only seen the first episode but it looks like it will be pretty good.

Did you guys hear?  It’s Hellboy’s 20th anniversary.  It’s nuts to think he’s be around that long.  I have to admit that I only discovered him after the first movie came out.  I think I had seen the books before, but the art didn’t really do it for me.

Can you believe that? So after I saw the movie, I was like okay I will give the story a chance and just deal with the artwork.  So pretty crazy that Mignola is now one of my favorite artists.

Heck, the very first page I drew about Pickle and Todd was wanna-be Mignola art.  That lasted for about 2 pages because I realized how hard it is to draw like him.

So in honor of an awesome 20 years (and a sweet contest that Multiversity was running) I did a little fan art for the right hand of doom.

Had a blast at MegaCon.  Thank you so much for everyone who came by and chatted with me even though the hordes of zombies were on an epic scale this year.

Anyone going?  Would be nice to have some readers of Shiver Bureau in my home state of Florida.  There’s got to be at least one, right?

I am actually planning on enjoying myself more this year.  I didn’t really have time to prepare for this convention, so I am going to say screw money and not worry about it.  It does help that some awesome people did pre-order commissions.  So I want to give them a HUGE thank you, cause they relieved a lot of my worry.

Side note.  I am doing a 3-part guest strip for the fabu Rickard of “Two Guys and Guy”.  He was nice enough to give me an entire week to play with his toys.  That guy is way too nice.

I want to thank everyone for sticking with Shiver Bureau and me.  I know it has been an extremely long wait.  I can’t make any promises that there won’t be another haitus, but feel much more comfortable with the updates now.

This entire story arc is written and the pencils are totally finished.  I have the inks completed up to chapter 5 (7 chapters total).  I am going to color and letter chapter 3, then I am going to finish up the inks.  Maybe go back and forth between inks and colors/letters.  But the hard work is done, though the inking is taking longer then I would have hoped.

I hope you continue to enjoy the adventures of Pickle, Trish and Todd.
